I had the pleasure of shooting a wedding recently that was just non stop fun. It was one of those weddings where you could tell that the bride and groom loved each other so much that it seemed to affect everyone around them, just oozing happiness if you will. I don't think I have ever captured so much truly genuine emotion and happiness as I did at this wedding.

This is one of my favorite images from a day when I took 2 thousand.

I also made slide show to tell the story of their day.
The video is about 9 minutes long but it is loads of fun.

Children

Time is scarce so I will have to be brief. But I wanted share these three photos with you. I needed to test lighting for an upcoming model shoot and I needed subjects victims! Children almost always like action shoots so I invited David and his friend to model for me. Here is what we got.
I told him to jump like he was a football player running into the in zone!
I love Davids' feckles
He us actually quite an emotive little guy :)

I had an awesome wedding this past week. I really want to share with you, but that will have to wait!

Knee Deep Water + Model = Fun!

I like to think of myself as a concept driven photographer and I have had this concept in mind for a while now.

I finally got the chance to shoot it! The concept was to do a model shoot in one of streams that run through this area. The streams, at certain times of day, can be beautifully reflective and still. They reflect all the beautiful colors of the trees and would also reflect my model as well. I scouted a location I loved and even found this great rock I could pose my model on. Now I just needed a model to complete this concept. Evan Chen needed to update her portfolio so it just clicked and here is what we came up with.

Of course we couldn't shoot with out a couple of of out-of-control laughing sessions. Seriously, no one ever tells you that goofing off is such an integral part of making good images! :D

I decided to do a retro look as well, because I knew diversity would be important for Evan's portfolio. So where else to go than the Classic Beaux-Art Nelson Art gallery? (Which also happens to be a favorite for just about every wedding photog out there! more on that later)

So here is a composite of what we did. I had a blast doing this even though it was probably one of the most challenging shoots I have done in a while. The sun had already gone down by the time we arrived to I had rely entirely on my off camera flashes. Luckily I have had a lot of experience with them lighting up dark reception halls. So I was really happy with how it came together.
I really love challenges like this. It forces me to innovate and work outside of comfort range, which sometime allow my creativity to really come to the surface.

Third Times the Charm

I realized I have been slacking on posting some of my recent wedding work. I have been so busy shooting that I'm forgetting to share! :D So I decided to post some of my favorite photos from my last three weddings. It never ceases to amaze me how each wedding is unlike any other. Each one presents such amazing opportunities that are unique to that wedding. Just in these three weddings we go from a tiny romantic chapel that seats 30 people, to pictures in the rain, to a wedding in a plantation house built in 1896.

This was such a beautiful little chapel!
Need I say more?!
This wedding holds the record for being the first wedding I have ever shot in the rain. It was kind of an exciting way to mix things up!
I love seeing all the little kids dressed up in their tuxes they're so cute and make for some awesome pictures!

And of course I just had to do the mandatory tough-as-nails grooms men shot.
But I guess you can only be so tough when have multi-colored socks on and cute little kid sitting in between ya! :)

I am really looking forward to this weekend, should be a long one, but that's a good thing! I am covering this one from the moment they wake up till they leave the reception. That many hours is going to make for a really sore Sunday, but that's all right, cause' the photos are going to incredible!
