Photo Manipulations & Studio Model Photography

You know that feeling when everything seems to be working like it is supposed to for once? Well I just installed Vista 64bit and everything is finally working like it is suppose to, I love being able to use GBs and GBs of RAM! Such a great change of pace from what my computer (and life) were doing to me earlier, it was driving me Crazy!

I really like the depth of the two above shots and of course Josh rocked the modeling

As you can see I had the pleasure of shooting in a studio recently. I met this awesome photographer, Jim Powers, and we decided to get togther with Melissa Slater and shoot! We combined our equipment, and believe me Jim has a Ton of gear, as Melissa put it, "a Merry Poppins bag of gear!" we had almost everthing I could ask for, just take a peak at the setup shot. The concept was to design lighting that outlined and scultped the subject to emphasize every facet and muscle. Overall I was really happy with how it turned out and I really had a blast. Big thank you to Jim for the space & gear.

Our setup with all Jim's studio lights. :D

Now that Blogger is working properly again I can post the rest of the pics from my previous session with Whitney. This is shoot that I her modeling in the middle of the road. Dodgeing cars that were driving on our "runway" just made things that much more interesting!

I am in love with the bokeh in this shot :)

New Website! + Senior Model Shoot

It's finally up! I have been quietly working on overhauling my website. I wanted it to be more wedding friendly by creating a section that focused solely on weddings. It took a while but I actually enjoyed becoming somewhat proficient at web design. I hate turning over creative control to other people when it comes to something as personal and important as a website. So I am pretty happy with the end product but please share your thoughts and let me know what you think.(whatever that might be!)

See?! I did actually manage to separate myself from this computer screen last weekend. This is Whitney from my latest session, she is a senior with modeling aspirations. It was a blast! We were shooting in the middle of the road! I will have to fill you in on all the juicy details and photos when blogger starts working properly.

2009

I have so much write about I am not sure where to start. One thing I do know for sure and that is that 2009 will be a fantastic year. If only for the reason that it will be my first full year of doing photography full time. Not having to balance another occupation that distracts from photography is exhilarating and from where I stand the possibilities seem endless.

Out of all the things I hope for the new year I think it all boils down to just one goal. To create more compelling, beautiful, interesting, or even provocative images.

Ascension
This image was entirely unplanned and is really very simple, involving one escalator and a very long shutter. It was just one of those moments when you see things in slightly different light and use an everyday item or location in an unusual way. Images like this make me really happy because it proves that at any time and any place there is a fascinating artistic opportunity waiting to be captured.

Smile
This is one of this images that I love for its' simplicity there is no facade just honesty. I chose both these images because in some ways they represent my attitude about the 2009. A subtle optimism and hope.

Happy New Year
